17th World Scout Moot in 2025 to be hosted in Portugal

Congratulations to Federação Escutista de Portugal, the Portugese National Scout Organization, on their successful bid to host the 17th World Scout Moot in 2025. The Federação Escutista de Portugal was appointed the Host of the 2025 Moot by the 42nd World Scout Conference following a vote taken in plenary by Member Organizations.

World Scout Events such as the Moot are high-profile opportunities to bring our Movement together in a unique educational environment where young people and volunteers can participate in Scouting activities, develop new skills, build friendships, and learn about different cultures.

Moots provide a chance for young Adults in Scouting to meet together and take part in activities that enable them to become active global citizens. Individuals who are 26 years of age or older can support the Moot delivery as volunteer International Service Team members.
For the 2025 World Scout Moot up to 5,000 young adult members of Scouting between the ages of 18 and 25 (traditionally called Rovers) gather for ten days to experience the spirit of Scouting, make new friends and take in the breathtaking Portuguese landscape.

The breeze of the Atlantic Ocean and shadowy forests of the Buçaquinho Regional Scout Centre will set the scene for the 17th World Scout Moot. The event will be guided by the slogan Engage with Portugal! and will feature hands-on opportunities for skills-building for participants. Portuguese Scouting calls Rovers from all over the world to Engage! with each other, their friends and the local Portuguese community.

In a world of fast-paced technological change, young people must develop a diverse variety of skills to face new challenges. The 2025 Moot will encourage this learning by setting Rovers up to implement their own projects for local community engagement during the first days of the camp. Planning and executing such an initiative will allow Scouts to acquire good practices in cooperation, solidarity and mutual understanding with each other and local communities.

After spending the first part of the camp spread across Portugal in small groups to work on their learning paths, participants will reunite and set up camp for the rest of the event at the stunning Buçaquinho Regional Scout Centre in the municipality of Ovar, located just south of the city of Porto.

The Federação Escutista de Portugal has extensive experience hosting various past international Scout events. The provisional dates for the 17th World Scout Moot have been set for 25 July to 3 August 2025. Learn more about Portugal’s bid on the Conference website and their vision for the event on the Host’s Moot 2025 website.
