We gathered for another day at the 42nd World Scout Conference – an eventful day of exhibition showcases, tracking our progress towards Vision 2023, and understanding our roadmap to achieve it by taking an in-depth look at the draft World Triennial Plan 2021-2024. We also actively participated in a productive Q&A session to discuss the Draft Resolutions.
In the Conference Live Studio before the day 2 plenary session, we heard an update on the exciting programme that has been happening during the virtual event and what not to miss in the upcoming agenda. Tune in early each day before the plenary to be inspired by special guests and fellow Scouts from around the world!
Together, we also celebrated the growth of our Movement over the last triennium and extended a warm welcome to new Member Organizations who joined our Scouting family in the last four years.
World Scouting experienced strong growth throughout the past triennium, adding new youth members and volunteers at all levels of the Movement and providing an opportunity for even more young people to experience Scouting’s transformative non-formal educational Youth Programme.
Opening the vote for the World Scout Committee 2021-2024
After becoming more familiar with the new eVoting system, you had the opportunity to enter breakout sessions to meet and greet all 25 candidates running for election to the World Scout Committee. We opened the voting session to elect 12 of these candidates to serve as the World Scout Committee for the 2021-2024 triennium. Delegations have until 12:00 GMT on 27 August to cast their votes.
Drafting the next World Triennial Plan together
In breakout sessions, you had the chance to reflect and work on the draft Triennial Plan 2021-2024. The sessions enabled participants to share their ideas and suggestions in different languages through Padlet exercises, and we encourage you to continue sharing your inputs into the draft Triennial Plan through the collaboration tools available on scoutconference.org/triennial-plan. You will have until 27 August at 12:00 GMT to add inputs and feedback to the draft Triennial Plan 2021-2024.
Discover the exhibitions and showcases
Remember that each day you have the chance to step into the virtual exhibition space and explore the diverse world of Scouting. You can learn more about support offered through WOSM Services, meet Scouting partners to explore opportunities for collaboration, find out how to participate in upcoming World Scout Events, and hear good practices from different Member Organizations.
Day 2 featured interesting side events as we learned about the achievements of the Interamerican Scout Foundation, engaged with the Africa and European Scout Regions about diversity, and heard from our partner YUNGA on youth empowerment towards the SDGs.
Voting for WOSM’s Registration Fee System
We closed day 2 with WOSM’s financial report for 2017-2021 delivered to the Conference, and voted a new WOSM Registration Fee System.
