Global trends shaping the future: A deep dive into the World Scout Conference programme

The 43rd World Scout Conference promises to be an inspiring gathering of Scout leaders, guests, and experts from around the globe, featuring a variety of informative and engaging sessions that will showcase key elements of the Strategy for Scouting for the coming ten years. Through plenary and breakout sessions, workshops, keynote speechesand more! – the Conference has been carefully designed to support participants in making informed decisions.

Held over seven days, this core World Event will highlight Scouting’s achievements from the last triennium and key decisions that will shape Scouting’s future. In addition to discussing Conference Resolutions, attendees will elect the next World Scout Committee and select hosts for upcoming World Scout Events.

Addresing global trends

In a rapidly evolving world, understanding and responding to global trends is more important than ever, especially for organisations like Scouting that are dedicated to empowering youth and fostering positive change. As the Conference unfolds, we will hear from influential speakers such as Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Chris Purifoy, CEO and Co-Founder of the Learning Economy Foundation, and Carlos Sanvee, Secretary General of the World YMCA, who will discuss how Scouting can embrace the challenges and opportunities of the coming decades. Participants can use this knowledge to connect with how the next Strategy for Scouting is laying the groundwork for our future actions.

Empowering youth leaders

Empowering youth to make a lasting impact in their local communities and beyond is crucial to shaping a better future. Inspiring leaders like HH Princess Sama Bint Faisal Al Saud, Board Member of the World Scout Foundation, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, will share insights on equipping the next generation with the necessary skills. Join in sessions led by Member Organizations like Scouts et Guides de France, Fédération Ivoirienne du Scoutisme, and the Lebanese Scouting Federation, where they will showcase their successful training initiatives in promoting tolerance, gender equality, and ecological transition.

A peaceful and inclusive world

With the world in a state of permacrisis – beset by conflict, political instability, sluggish growth, digital divides, and a worsening climate crisis – what future awaits our youth? How can education systems and civil society organisations equip young people with the skills, experience and know-how to deal with the challenges facing society and our planet. Don’t miss the powerful keynote speech by Yasmine Sherif, Executive Director of Education Cannot Wait, where she will offer insights into how education systems and civil society can rise to the occasion.
The 43rd World Scout Conference is set to pioneer new paths and create a lasting impact on both the Movement and our communities. By bringing together visionary leaders, passionate youth, and forward-thinking strategies, we are laying the groundwork for a transformative future for Scouting, ready to embrace the challenges ahead.
