Important Updates on the World Scout Conference and Youth Forum

In light of the growing worldwide health crisis of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the World Scout Committee (WSC) has been considering its impact on the organisation of the 42nd World Scout Conference and 14th World Scout Youth Forum. The primary focus of the consideration is to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all participants to these events.

Following close monitoring of the situation and careful consideration of contingency scenarios, the WSC has decided that in the current context it is not viable to continue organising the events as planned for August 2020.

As such, the WSC decided to put forward a referendum to National Scout Organizations to postpone both events. If approved, the events would take place when normalcy has returned, and can be adequately organised in Egypt. All National Scout Organizations have been asked to cast their ballot for this referendum by 26 April 2020. Follow here for more information.

We invite you to visit our Questions & Answers page to understand what the postponement of the events would mean for the ongoing handling of WOSM’s operations.

The Scout Movement is committed to ensure all young people and adults in our care are Safe from Harm and that their safety is our utmost priority including throughout this global health crisis. For further tips for NSOs on how to stay safe and to seek additional support, please reference the “WOSM Advisory on COVID-19 for NSOs”.

More details and guidance for participants shall follow, and will be posted to scoutconference.org
