Dear friends in Scouting,
As we gather this August in Cairo, Egypt, we wish to extend a warm welcome to all participants at the 43rd World Scout Conference, which will bring together delegates from Member Organizations in 175 countries to shape the future of Scouting.
This Conference stands at a pivotal moment in the history of our Movement. It marks the end of Vision 2023 — ten years of implementing a bold strategy for Scouting — and the beginning of a new and ambitious vision that will guide us into the future. Our commitment to transformative education is not being reinvented but rather renewed, to better serve our communities and build a better world.
The Conference is also welcoming many partners and supporters who join us in investing in a better future for all. With the Sustainable Development Goals far from being on track, Scouting is committed to doubling down on our efforts to achieve these milestones — a sentiment I am sure will be echoed throughout the Conference. And, amid unprecedented social, economic, and political unrest, this Conference will be a milestone in putting young people at the forefront of decision-making to lead the world towards peace, harmony, and cooperation.
Reflecting on our commitment to truly positioning young people at the forefront of decision-making, the merger of the Conference with the World Scout Youth Forum is an evolution to ensure youth contributions at the event.
This Conference presents a golden opportunity for Scouting to come together, engage in constructive dialogue, and strengthen the fabric of our global community. We encourage all participants to approach this Conference with open hearts and minds. Let us listen deeply to one another, challenge our assumptions, and emerge with a renewed sense of purpose and unity. The decisions and commitments made here will shape the lives of millions of young people for decades to come. We are confident that, through our collective wisdom and determination, we will chart a course for a brighter future.
Finally, we want to acknowledge the incredible work done by volunteers and staff worldwide, and the Egyptian Federation for Scouts and Girl Guides for hosting the event. Now, more than ever, the world needs the transformative spirit of Scouting. As we reflect on our proud legacy, we must channel that same passion, innovation, and determination to build a better future.
Yours in Scouting,
